Family Learning Group

“When parents are involved in their children’s education at home, they do better in school.”

Family Learning takes place in school on Wednesday mornings and a variety of courses are on offer for parents/grandparents and carers of children attending St Joseph’s RC Infants School. The aim is to get involved with your children/grandchildren’s learning, based on topics covered from Reception to Year 2.

Previous courses have been -Keeping up the Kids Maths / Literacy and Playing with Language – based on early development of language and how to support early Literacy skills.

The sessions are fun and informal with the children joining us for the last part of the 2 hour class. We make lots of games and activities to take home and play as a family and it is a great opportunity to meet other parents and grandparents.

Details of new Family Learning courses in school will be available from the school office and by flyers sent out to everyone.

This half-term our Family Learning Team have been working with our parents, carers and children creating some fantastic resources to encourage talk for writing and sharing stories. This was our last Chatterbox session.
Our theme next half-term is Magical Maths and we start back on the second week of school.

Family Learning Silk Painting

A Big Well Done! Well done to all the Parents and Grandparents from Family Learning who created Silk Paintings with Barbara. The silk paintings represent elements of the Churches Liturgical Year and will be displayed in school as a visual reference for the children....
